UPCOMING: The Eastern Illinois men’s and women’s swim squads travel north this weekend to take part in a couple of meets in the Chicagoland vicinity. The Panthers will challenge UIC in Chicago on Friday before proceeding to Romeoville to compete against Lewis and St. Ambrose in a tri-meet on Saturday.

LAST COMPETITION: Eastern’s recent event was the SIU A3 Performance Invite in mid-November. Olivia Viele secured a podium position in the 200 fly A-Final with a time of 2:05.46 while also achieving a team-best time of 56.39 in the 100 fly.

Simultaneously, Autumn Grinter marked two season-best times, winning the 50 free B-Final at 24.02 seconds and finishing the 100 free B-Final in 53.11 seconds. Additionally, on the women’s side, Genevieve Biberdorf triumphed in the B-Final of the women’s 200 breast with a time of 2:24.03, whereas Izzy Glasgow took second in the 100 back B-Final clocking in at 59.13 seconds.

PRESEASON HONORS: Corinne Staneart and Dismas Dillon were highlighted in the Summit League Swimming & Diving Athletes to Watch List. Staneart was among the Panthers’ leading scorers a season ago, posting several top 10 times in EIU program history. Presently, she holds school records in the 100 breast (1:04.34) and 200 breast (2:20.06), set as a sophomore during the 2022-23 season.

Dillon was the leading scorer for the EIU men last season and established a new school record in the 50 free with a time of 20.28 at the Summit League Championships, where he claimed first place in the B final. Dillon also holds the school record in the 100 fly (50.19), achieved at the 2023 Summit League Championships.

He also held the head coach position at Olivet Nazarene University where he led his teams to three national championships, including consecutive men’s championships in 2016 and 2017, along with a women’s championship in 2017.
