Key attractions of the event include the products and services that were nominated for CES Innovation Awards, which celebrate remarkable design and engineering, as stated on the CES site. Here are several of the leading awardees in the Smart Home category, each with possible uses for multifamily housing:

Palm recognition

The Philips Wi-Fi Palm Recognition Smart Deadbolt, recognized as the Philips 5000 series smart deadbolt, features palm recognition technology, facilitating entry without the need for touch byidentifying palm vein patterns in an authorized user’s hand, as stated by Philips.

Manufactured from zinc alloy, the deadbolt incorporates built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functionality and is certified with BHMA/ANSI Grade 2 security. It can also be unlocked via a key, a PIN code, or the Philips Home Access app. The product’s retail price is $359.99, as reported on the manufacturer’s website. 

Floating display

The Samsung Holodisplay floating screen is an interactive digital interface designed to seeminglyhover in the air. Users have the ability to manage the display through gestures or vocal commands; its features encompass Internet connectivity, timers, and controlling other connected SmartThings devices in the residence. 

Currently a conceptual device, the Holodisplay has not yet been positioned for retail release,as noted by CNET.

Intelligent water management

The Droplet by Hydrific isan ultrasonic gadget that connects to a unit’s main water line to oversee its water consumption and identify leaks. Its machine learning abilities enable it to detect water-using fixtures in the unit and ascertain water usage locations. Users can receive alerts for leaks or abnormal water usage.

This unit does not need a battery or any invasive installation, as per the manufacturer’s information. The product is priced at $199.99 retail.

Real-time monitoring

The eufy Video Smart Lock S3 Pro offersvarious unlocking methods for users, encompassing palm recognition. The built-in video doorbell enables one-way communication, while the dual power supply system ensures uninterrupted and adaptable operation. The device is not yet available for sale.

Smart combinations

The CleverCharge Level 2 electric vehicle charger from Danlaw Inc. utilizes anAI-driven vehicle interface to facilitate charging and offer a range management system for users’ vehicles. The associated CleverCharge IQ app allows for the management of multiple vehicles and households at once, showing how many miles are left in a vehicle’s range.

The device is available in hardwired and 240V outlet versions for J1772 or NACS (Tesla) charging ports, according to the manufacturer’s site. The charger is set to launch in spring 2025, with the pricing details yet to be disclosed.
