FAIRFAX – The George Mason wrestling squad will participate in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Multi-Division Dual Meet Championships hosted at the UNI-Dome on Friday and Saturday in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

This competition features over 100 collegiate teams across six divisions, featuring 14 Division I men’s squads, including several teams ranked in the NWCA’s top 25 poll alongside three Big 12 contenders.

George Mason is seeded No. 6 and will compete against Cal Poly in its first dual. UNI, currently ranked seventh nationally, will hold the top seed for the Division I men’s field which also includes CSU Bakersfield, Central Michigan, Drexel, Ohio, Sacred Heart, South Dakota State, SIU Edwardsville, Northern Colorado, Penn, and Wyoming.

Cal Poly: The team has been ranked among the top 25 several times this season. Eight wrestlers from Cal Poly have appeared in the rankings this year, with six in the top 20 and two in the top eight nationally—Zeth Romney (133) is ranked third and Chance Lamer (149) is seventh.

The seedings were determined based on the NCWA D1 Mid-Major Coaches Poll, where the Patriots are positioned 10th.

The leading eight seeds in the NCAA D1 Men’s bracket are as follows:

     1. Northern Iowa

     2. South Dakota State

     3. Little Rock

     4. Northern Colorado

     5. Wyoming

     6. George Mason

     7/8. Ohio

     7/8. Penn

The Patriots will face off against the third-seed Little Rock (ranked 17th nationally) or SIUE in the second round. Little Rock has remained in the top 20 all season, recently triumphing over Missouri in a dual, and boasts two returning All-Americans. George Mason had previously defeated SIUE, 32-8, in Edwardsville on November 24.
