BATON ROUGE, La.— The U.S. Army is hosting the East Baton Rouge Parish Schools (EBRPSS) Esports Expo, providing an opportunity to engage with the Army’s Professional Esports Team and its Official U.S. Army Gaming Trailer on Saturday, January 11, from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Official U.S. Army Gaming Trailer, named The Esports Gaming Experience, features gaming consoles and seating equipped with cutting-edge games for competitive multi-platform gaming, aimed at enlightening students about the Army’s extensive career options and how gaming abilities can be advantageous in service.

“The Esports initiative in Baton Rouge has rapidly recognized its return on investment for its students, which in turn enhances the overall quality of East Baton Rouge Schools,” stated Capt. Terron Riggins, Commander of the Baton Rouge Recruiting Company. “With appropriate resources, we aimed to enhance that same investment into the students.”

EBRPSS’s developing Esports Program provides remarkable opportunities to local student-gamers, where the Army will participate in events throughout the year in collaboration with the program.

“Our concept behind bringing the Army’s Esports Team was to coordinate with EBRPSS to ensure that student-gamers comprehend how professional careers can emerge from these competencies; and how they can be utilized to serve their nation,” Riggins mentioned.

“This Esports expo is not one of our regularly scheduled events, but we will conduct open tournaments for anyone interested if they sign up on-site, with each tournament winner receiving a prize,” explained Jeffery Harrison, Director of Network Operations and Esports at EBRPSS. “We will also showcase our Esports program and aim to encourage more students to join our leagues in future events and our student ambassador program.”
