Eligibility

Annually, around $5,000 will be allocated through the CoSM’s STEM Education Fund to assist students in presenting at professional gatherings or participating in professional workshops.

Funding is accessible for two types of students:

  • Students who are sharing their research or other academic projects at conferences
  • Students selected through a competitive selection process to attend a workshop aimed at equipping them with skills for success in graduate studies and a career in research related to their major field

Students who qualify in these two categories may request up to $500 to mitigate travel expenses. For presentations at conferences, travel funds are restricted to the student author presenting. Students who are not the presenting author but are attending a conference do not qualify for travel funding. Only a single student presenter will be funded for each presentation.

To be eligible for this award, students must be enrolled in programs within the College of Science and Mathematics and have a research mentor who is also part of the College. Students can receive up to four awards from this program throughout their undergraduate studies. Graduate students may apply if no funding is accessible from the Graduate School.

Funding

The maximum amount is $500; however, there is no guarantee that students will receive this sum.

  • Only STEM students in programs within the College of Science and Mathematics with faculty mentors in CoSM can apply.

  • Students are limited to four awards from this program throughout their undergraduate studies.

  • The student must be the presenting author, and only one student per presentation is eligible for the travel award.
