HAMPTON, Va. – Old Dominion University swimming commenced the 2025 season at a quad dual meet held at the Hampton Aquaplex, competing against William & Mary, East Carolina, and Central Connecticut State. The ODU men faced a defeat to W&M with a score of 143-119, while the women were unable to overcome ECU, W&M, and CCSU.

ODU secured fourth place in the 200-medley relay, clocking in at 1:49.59, with the Monarchs represented by Samantha Allred, Bridget Morris Larkin, Kiersten Donnelly, and Bella Pachek.

The quartet of Gustaf Jansson, August Eriksson, Jordan Davis, and Zachary Redding achieved second place in the men’s 200 medley relay, finishing with a time of 1:31.54.

Grey Bremer and Cooper Beebe clinched the first two positions in the men’s 1000 freestyle, with Bremer triumphing in 9:53.59 and Beebe following closely behind in 10:03.58. Bremer added another victory later with a time of 4:39.37 in the 500 freestyle.

Ben Schattenberg secured a second-place finish in the men’s 200 freestyle, timing in at 1:43.19.

Gustaf Hansson achieved ODU’s inaugural victory in the 100 backstroke with a finishing time of 50.82.

Mary Dunworth took fifth place in the women’s 100 breaststroke, finishing in 1:07.65.

In the men’s 100 breaststroke, August Eriksson achieved a podium finish with a time of 53.99.

Redding celebrated ODU’s second win of the day in the 200 butterfly, posting a time of 1:52.32, and then secured second place in the 100 free with a time of 44.86.

In the men’s 200 breaststroke, Bryce Mortimer restored ODU to the winner’s column with a time of 2:05.65.

Lauren Masters led ODU in the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.81, while Kristilynn Mosley finished fifth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:13.09.

Mortimer achieved his second victory of the day, clocking in at 1:52.29 in the 200 IM.

In the concluding event of the day, the Monarchs claimed victory in the 400 free relay, as Schattenberg, Ryan Lincicum, Brice Bounds, and Redding finished with a dominant time of 3:05.73. The team consisting of Davis, Robby Young, Bremer, and Dawson Truong took second with a time of 3:08.32.

ODU will advance their 2025 season on Saturday, Jan. 24 at American.
