Viking Swim and Dive Honors Seniors with Stellar Performances on Senior Night

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana swimming and diving teams honored senior night with a dual meet against South Dakota State on Friday evening at the Midco Aquatic Center. Augustana achieved several first-place finishes.

In the Fast Lane 

• Bryn Greenwaldt secured first place on two instances during Friday’s meet. Greenwaldt finished first in the 50-yard free with a time of 23.01, and followed it up with a first-place finish in the 100-yard free, clocking a time of 51.40. 
• Angelina Chan marked her senior night with two podium placements, including a first-place finish in the 100-yard fly with a time of 57.67. Earlier that evening, she attained a second-place finish in the 50-yard free with a seasonal best of 24.39.
• Nesrine Jelliti notched two podium finishes that contributed to the Vikings overcoming the Jackrabbits. She finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.08. Earlier in the meet, Jelliti came in third in the 200-yard IM.
• Ella Ward-Zeller achieved a time of 59.26 in the 100-yard back for a first-place finish.
• Meesha Montgomery aided the Vikings in clinching the dual victory with a second and a third place finish in the 100-yard breast and 50-yard free.
• Peyton Bartsch shined in the water on Friday night with a first-place finish in the 50-yard free, posting a time of 21.02. Later in the session, Bartsch recorded a time of 52.80 in the 100-yard fly.
• Mason Kauffeld celebrated senior night with two commendable finishes in the 100-yard breast and 200-yard IM. Kauffeld secured third place in the 100-yard breast with a time of 57.80.
• Jackson Dircks completed the 100-yard back in third place with a time of 52.62.
• Pedro Borin landed in second place in the 100-yard fly with a time of 50.54.

Off the Boards

• David Binsfeld dove to a first-place finish in the 1-meter diving finals, earning nine points for the Vikings.
• Avery Lommel took second place in the 1-meter diving finals with a score of 221.85. Kate Robbins followed closely behind Lommel, finishing with a score of 219.75.
• In the women’s 3-meter finals, Lommel secured second place with a score of 240.15, trailed by Robbins at 216.75.

Augustana will return to the pool on Friday, Jan. 17, competing against St. Thomas and Sioux Falls at the Midco Aquatic Center.
