COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Colorado State University Pueblo Swim team exhibited an impressive performance against Colorado College in a dual event on Saturday afternoon at the Schlessman Natatorium located on the Colorado College campus. 

Colorado College triumphed over the ThunderWolves in the dual meet, achieving a score of 167-62. The event included no men’s teams or diving contests, necessitating brief intermissions for the ThunderWolves.

After the meet, Head Coach Susanne Divelbiss remarked, “I was satisfied with our girls’ performance today. The girls competed fiercely despite short rest intervals and coming straight off the Christmas break.” Divelbiss further noted, “We have areas to improve upon before Senior Day next week, but overall our girls displayed great effort and I am happy with their determination.”

Oliva Dannhaus (Sheridan, Wyoming/Sheridan) and Carla Sanchez Guareno (Tarragona, Spain) spearheaded the ThunderWolves, both demonstrating exceptional performances and securing victories for the team. Dannhaus amassed 490 points during the dual, while Sanchez Guareno totaled 465.5 points.

Aleksandra Dutkowiak (Wroclaw, Poland) showcased a notable effort in the 1000 freestyle, achieving a third-place result with a time of 12:05.65 to pace the team. 

In the finals for the 200 freestyle, Marissa Mangino (Mesa, Ariz./Red Mountain) claimed fourth place with a time of 2:16.70, while Margaret Laborde Lagrave (Sacramento, Calif./Saint Francis) attained fifth in the 50 free, clocking in at 27.20. 

Dannhaus claimed the title in the 200 IM with a timing of 2:18.07, narrowly edging out her fellow teammate Laci Denn (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Mainland Regional), who finished second at 2:19.92. Dannhaus also led for the team in the 100 free, finishing in fourth place.

Paola C Wu (San Pedro Sula, Honduras) delivered an outstanding performance in the 100 fly, earning a runner-up spot with a time of 1:01.78. C Wu also secured another solid runner-up finish in the 500 free with a timing of 5:44.06. 

Sanchez Guareno triumphed in the 100 back with a time of 1:02.15 and recorded a personal best in the 100 breast, finishing fourth with a clock of 1:15.17.

The ThunderWolves will return to competition on Jan. 18 in Pueblo at the Sam Jones Natatorium for Senior Day at 11:00 AM.
