HONOLULU — The University of Hawai’i men’s and women’s swimming squads dominated their opponents on Senior Night by claiming victory in all events against Whitman College. The Rainbow Warriors triumphed over the Blues with a score of 155-64, while the Rainbow Wahine prevailed 161-59. This was the concluding home competition for 23 seniors at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex on Saturday evening.

The seniors played a pivotal role for the Rainbow Warriors against the Blues, with Milan Bukovics, Tomer Goldfadden, Karol Ostrowski, and Kahiau Kea collectively securing eight individual wins. Bukovics achieved victories in the 100 fly (49.33), 100 IM (50.28), and 100 back (50.65). Goldfaden claimed first place in the 50 breast (25.67) and 100 breast (56.35), while Ostrowski emerged victorious in the 50 fly (21.20) and 100 free (43.37). Kea topped the 50 back with a time of 23.76.

Aleks Tomasczewski and Victor Dagenais also managed to secure wins in the freestyle disciplines for the Rainbow Warriors. Tomaszewski finished first in the 50 free with a record of 20.59, and Dagenais recorded a winning time of 1:43.15 in the 200 free.

For the Rainbow Wahine, Mandolin Nguyen delivered a notable performance in her final meet at the DKAC, winning both the 50 breast (29.19) and 100 breast (1:03.22). Junior Holly Nelson achieved victories in the 50 fly (24.87) and 100 fly (55.76). Seniors Catherine Belyakov and Nellie Thompson also clinched wins, taking the 100 IM (56.17) and 50 free (24.57), respectively.

The Rainbow Wahine consistently excelled in the freestyle and backstroke competitions throughout the evening. In addition to Thompson’s 50 freestyle triumph, Lola Davison secured first in the 100 free with a time of 52.53, and Delara Ditterich won the 200 free with a record of 1:58.57. The Rainbow Wahine also excelled in the relay events, with the 200 medley relay A team of Alexa Ozment, Eva Kovaluk, Mia Eminova Blazevska, and Nelson posting a top time of 1:44.57 and the 200 free relay A team of Ozment, Tyminska, Davison, and Detterich winning gold with a mark of 1:36.19.

UH diving teams will be back in action at the Cal Invitational (Jan. 16-18) held at the Legends Aquatics Center in Berkley, Calif., while the Rainbow Warriors and Wahine swim teams are set to compete next in the Big West Championships (Feb. 12-15) at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center Natatorium in Houston, Texas.
