BLUEFIELD, Va. (WVVA) – As many are aware, wintry conditions can pose risks, yet they can also provide enjoyment, particularly for those who do not frequently experience snow.
The slope near Bluefield University is a popular location for sledding, attracting students and others alike. Some BU students moving in over the weekend paused their unpacking to relish the picturesque winter landscape beyond their new entrances.
They either purchased sleds or improvised with what they had to relish a slide down the Bluefield University incline. For several students, this was somewhat novel, as a few hail from regions that receive less snowfall than what has been witnessed lately.
“It’s wild, but it’s enjoyable. I came out here to sled. My first time doing it, so it’s exciting…” states Kameron Jackson, a BU student from Albany, Georgia, “…I mean, it’s chilly. I’m not accustomed to it, but you adapt. It’s quite entertaining…”
“I toppled over the sled the first time I went down and again the second time since I was trying to create a path,” remarks Clayton Boyte, a BU student from Lynchburg, Virginia.
“…It’s quite a lot, you know, as I mentioned… we don’t have much where I come from, so witnessing all this snow is… astonishing, like I’m a child once more,” says K.J. Pollock, a BU student from Jackson, North Carolina.
Those we interviewed urged their fellow students to take full advantage of the winter weather while it lasts, perhaps even trying a run down the hill themselves.
