ASUS Unveils the Cutting-Edge Gaming Phone 9 Series!

ASUS Republic of Gamers has unveiled the newest versions of its gaming smartphones – the ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro.

The new ROG Series 9 pair enhances the finest attributes found in earlier models and offers exceptional gaming performance unprecedented on a mobile device.

Both devices boast a stunningly vibrant and responsive 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 185Hz refresh rate that can handle even the most graphically intensive games. They also incorporate the AniMe Vision feature – a beloved addition among ROG Phone enthusiasts – enabling users to customize the display’s appearance through the behavior of its mini-LEDs. The ROG Phone 9 Pro features 648 of these mini-LEDs that can be personalized, surpassing any previous ROG Phone. Additionally, ASUS has employed resilient Corning Gorilla Glass for the display, enhancing its durability, with a 10-point touchscreen that remains functional even when users are wearing gloves. The screen also achieves a peak brightness of 2,500 nits, making both devices comfortable to use in bright sunlight.

Equipped with Qualcomm’s latest high-end mobile processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite – the top chipset on the market for Android devices – the ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro showcase such advances in graphic performance that ASUS boldly likens gaming on these phones to playing “like a console.” The Snapdragon 8 Elite features an Oryon CPU, Adreno 830 GPU, in addition to an AI-focused Hexagon NPU, or neural processing unit, which handles all AI operations. ASUS asserts that the new chipset delivers “significant improvements” over the previous version in its gaming phones, ensuring that even the most demanding titles with maximum graphic settings provide an ultra-smooth and lag-free gaming experience.

Regarding memory and storage, both variants come equipped with 12GB of rapid LPDDR5X RAM as standard; the ROG Phone 9 includes 256GB of storage, while the ROG Phone 9 Pro doubles that at 512GB (with a 1TB version also available).

The camera systems on both models are the same. For the primary camera, ASUS has selected a Sony Lytia 700 with a 50 megapixel 1/1.56” sensor, boasting an F1.9 maximum aperture and integrated optical image stabilization. The phones can capture both JPEG and RAW formats. Additional cameras comprise a 13 megapixel 120° ultrawide and a 5 megapixel macro lens.

As high-performance devices that will generate heat, ASUS has had to incorporate an advanced cooling solution in both models: the internal ROG GameCool 9 cooling systems can operate independently or be combined with the clip-on AeroActive Cooler X Pro external cooling device.

The devices’ speakers utilize OZO Audio technology which employs AI to minimize external sounds (such as wind) and can deliver high-fidelity 3D spatial audio.  

For gamers who prefer to use the device without external controllers, ASUS’ AirTrigger touch technology creates virtual “L” and “R” shoulder buttons at the device’s top corners, allowing users to engage them as if they were standard buttons – pressing them offers haptic feedback to signify that the button press has been acknowledged by the device.

The ASUS ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro are currently available priced at £949.99 GBP / $999.99 USD and £999.99 GBP / $1,199.99 USD respectively. The 1TB version of the Phone Pro 9 is priced at £1,299.99 GBP / $1,499.99 USD.
