RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women’s basketball squad is proud to spotlight junior Maggie Doogan as this week’s Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week, as declared by the league office on Monday. This marks Doogan’s second weekly accolade, having received the recognition on Dec. 9, 2024, and the third of the season for the team, following Rachel Ullstrom‘s Co-Player of the Week distinction on Nov. 11, 2024.

Doogan had an exceptional week in A-10 competition, steering the team to two A-10 victories against George Mason and Davidson, while averaging 34.8 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game, and 5 assists per game, alongside impressive statistics of 61.8% field goal shooting, 44.4% from beyond the arc, and 94.4% from the charity stripe, only missing one free throw across two games (17-18).

The junior concluded the game against George Mason with a shooting record of 12-for-18 from the field, 3-for-6 from three-point range, and 10-for-11 from the free throw line, achieving a career-high of 37 points, which is tied for the fourth-most in Spider women’s basketball history. She also matched her career-best with eight assists, alongside four rebounds, one block, and two steals.

In the matchup against Davidson, Doogan once again led the squad with 26 points and advanced into Richmond’s top 20 scoring leaders. She surpassed Johanna McKnight (1,106 points) and Saona Chapman (1,100 points) to secure the No. 20 position on the all-time scoring leaderboard with 1,121 career points. Doogan came close to a double-double with a team-high of seven rebounds, in addition to two assists and one steal to her performance.

The Spiders will continue their conference journey on Wednesday, when the team welcomes St. Bonaventure at 6 p.m., and will host cross-city rival VCU at the Robins Center on Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. for the MLK Jr. Day/ Pow(Her) On and National Girls and Women in Sports Day Celebration Presented by CarMax.
