BRAINERD — Kyler Carlson secured victory in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.44 and assisted Brainerd’s 200 medley relay to a win, guiding the Warriors to a second-place finish in the Section 8-2A True Team on Saturday, Jan. 11.
Buffalo edged the Warriors by a margin of 20 points (1,068-1,048) to clinch the section title.
The quartet comprising Carlson, Nathan Chaussee, Brooks Brichacek, and Drew Haglin triumphed in the medley relay with a time of 1:43.66.

Brichacek secured a fifth position in the 50 free, followed by Grady Sumption in seventh and Henry McCulley in eighth.
Carlson earned a second place in the 100 free, with McCulley in sixth and Logan Kuepers in seventh.
Carlson then anchored Brainerd’s 200 free relay team consisting of Chaussee, McCulley, and Brichacek to second place with a time of 1:31.92.

Chaussee achieved a fourth position in the 100 backstroke and a sixth in the 100 butterfly, with Drew Haglin coming in eighth in the butterfly.
Brichacek placed sixth in the breaststroke, with Jake Tatge following in eighth.
Bennett Day secured seventh place in the 500 free, while Carter Dirkes finished in 10th. The team of Day, Dirkes, McCulley, and Kuepers earned third in the 400 free relay.

Kuepers finished fourth in the 200 free, with Dirkes coming in eighth. Day wrapped up sixth in the individual medley.
Brainerd’s David Herath contributed a third place in diving with 396.95 points.
