The Department of Parks and Recreation is currently accepting applications for temporary activity aide roles for the 2025 Summer Fun Program.

This program offers wholesome, secure, and enjoyable recreational experiences for kids and teens at various locations across the Big Island throughout the summer break.

Open positions include activity aide I, compensated at $17.50 per hour, and activity aide II, which pays $19 per hour.

To qualify, applicants should:

  • Hold a current first aid certification.
  • Submit a finalized Summer Fun application.
  • Be available for obligatory training from June 3-6.
  • Have availability to work from June 9 to July 18.

Applications can be accessed online, at the Department of Parks and Recreation Recreation Division office located at 799 Pi‘ilani St. in Hilo, and at various Hawai‘i County gymnasiums.

Filled-out applications must be sent to the Recreation Division or postmarked by February 28.
