This is particularly remarkable given that the first dedicated OLED gaming monitor, the Alienware AW3423DW utilizing Samsung QD-OLED technology, was only launched three years prior. LG’s inaugural UltraGear OLED model was released somewhat later, in early 2023.

In comparison, OLED televisions account for merely 18% of the television market, despite LG introducing its first OLED television in 2013. LG’s statistics imply that consumers are adopting OLED gaming monitors at a quicker pace than OLED televisions.

Similar to televisions, the primary issue with OLED gaming monitors remains their cost. Though they have become more affordable recently, they still surpass their LCD equivalents in price – even the most economical models start near $550, and premium products, especially larger variants, demand significantly higher prices. Warranty offerings have also seen considerable enhancement.

One of the major announcements from CES was the introduction of the world’s first 27-inch 4K OLED 240Hz monitor, although Asus, Samsung, and MSI all claimed this title with their respective models. They are not the quickest – the Asus ROG Swift PG27AQDP OLED can reach 480Hz, albeit at 1440p instead of 4K. Regarding non-OLED displays, MSI also showcased a 600Hz LCD version, which still trails behind the 750Hz unit from Koorui.
