BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Sophomore Katie Homme and first-year Erica Johnson from the St. Olaf College women’s swimming and diving team claimed the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week honors, as revealed on Tuesday afternoon.
After their exhibitions in Saturday’s MIAC dual triumph over Hamline University, Homme secured her second MIAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week title of the season, while Johnson achieved her first MIAC Women’s Diver of the Week recognition. Homme was previously acknowledged as the MIAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 19.
Homme triumphed in three individual events to steer St. Olaf to a 209-51 victory on Saturday, conquering the 50-yard freestyle (25.21), 100-yard backstroke (1:01.76), and 100-yard individual medley (1:02.79). Johnson recorded the highest scores of the day in both one-meter diving sessions, taking the first session by nearly 20 points with a score of 162.45 and the second by almost 10 points with a total of 197.00.
The Oles will return to Skoglund Natatorium to challenge Macalester College on Senior Day on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 11 a.m.
