1st Place in the Landscape (Infrared) category — ‘Switzerland’ by Gavin Spooner | Kolari Vision ‘Life in Another Light’ Infrared Photo Contest
The “Life in Another Light” Infrared Photo Contest by Kolari Vision highlights what distinguishes infrared photography: its capacity to perceive the world in an alternate, compelling manner. Featuring victors in various categories, the fourth installment of this biannual contest offers something enjoyable for each photography enthusiast.
“What transforms when we switch to infrared, and which elements remain unchanged? What splendor exists in the light that our eyesight cannot detect? What insights do new viewpoints reveal about our environment that only photography can encapsulate?” Kolari inquires. “Our contest goes beyond merely capturing visuals; it involves unveiling fresh perspectives to view the world.”
Although the contest emphasizes infrared photography, Kolari Vision acknowledges that not everyone possesses infrared imaging equipment; thus, there are categories for “standard light” photography included as well. Winners in these and all other categories earn a $450 Kolari Vision gift card along with a conversion or modification service to transform any camera into an infrared model (valued up to $1,150, covering conversion services for all common digital cameras).
The contest categories encompass Abstract, Aerial, Astro Landscape, Black and White, Candy Chrome, IR Chrome, Landscape (Infrared), Landscape (Visible Light), Long Exposure, Portrait, and Ultraviolet. An Infrared Short Film category is also available for moving image submissions.
In addition to first-place victors in each category, Kolari Vision and its panel of judges have also chosen runners-up and third-place victors, along with numerous honorable mentions. Second-place winners receive a $150 Kolari Vision gift card along with complimentary conversion or modification services. Third-place finishing and honorable mentions acquire a $50 gift card, while third-place victors benefit from a free conversion or modification service as well. Without further delay, here are all 36 award-winning images.
