Johns Hopkins Dominates Gettysburg in a Stellar Victory

BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins team secured victories in all 14 events as they defeated the visiting Gettysburg Bullets on Tuesday afternoon. The Blue Jays won with a score of 209-53, enhancing their record to 27-0 historically against the Bullets.
 
The competition commenced with first and second places in the 200 Medley Relay. Aden Li, Jonathan Wang, Avery Clapp and Christian Mayr secured the victory, finishing the race in 1:30.56. Bryce Lloyd, Joe Castagno, Rad Couture and Jay Heymann achieved second place with a time of 1:33.84.
 
In the initial individual event of the afternoon, Jack Cornish and Larkin Helman finished first and second in the 1000 Free. Cornish claimed victory with a time of 9:36.99, while Helman finished at 9:46.38. Daniel Byrnes and Clapp followed suit in the 200 Free, with Byrnes clocking in at 1:42.06 and Clapp just 0.20 seconds behind. Lloyd and Dylan Jewett completed a trio of wins in the 100 Back, with Lloyd finishing first in 50.46 and Jewett coming in second at 50.89.
 
Mitchell List led a Blue Jay domination in the 100 Breast, finishing with a time of 58.75. Eric Ji secured second place (59.01), while Li took third (59.57). Hopkins replicated this performance in the 200 Fly, spearheaded by Jonik Surprenant who finished in 1:54.39. Castagno followed closely with a second-place time of 1:55.97, trailed by Julian Maycock in 1:57.54. Adam Sandid subsequently triumphed in the 50 Free, winning by more than four-tenths of a second in 21.41, while Heymann edged Couture by one-hundredth of a second (21.94) to grab third place.
 
Heymann also led a Blue Jay sweep in the 100 Free with a finish of 46.69. Christian Mayr captured second (47.23) and Jonathan Wang claimed third (47.91). Li impressively swam 26.28 on his final lap to come from behind and win the 200 Back in 1:51.87, with Helman finishing third at 1:56.55. JHU completed a clean sweep in the top three positions of both the 200 Breast and 500 Free. Ji touched the wall first in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:05.72, followed by List (2:10.18) and Matthew Hartshorn (2:10.25). Josiah March secured victory in the 500 with a time of 4:38.63, Byrnes finishing second (4:45.02) and Cornish third (4:50.71).
 
Clapp achieved victory in the 100 Fly with a finish of 49.68, while Lloyd secured second at 51.31. The Blue Jays then completed another sweep in the 200 IM, the final individual race of the day. Wang led by finishing in 1:50.53, completing a final lap of 26.03. Maycock secured second place (1:51.51) and Jewett rounded out the top three (1:55.51).
 
Hopkins concluded the afternoon with first and third place finishes in the 400 Free Relay. Byrnes, Couture, Li, and Andrew Gilbert won in a time of 3:11.88. Will Dunlap, Ji, Surprenant, and March clinched third place with a time of 3:12.49, finishing just two-hundredths of a second behind second place.
