Charlie Woods Playfully Teases Dad Tiger During Exciting TGL Debut

Tiger Woods made his return to golf, in some capacity, on Tuesday evening as part of the new TGL indoor team golf league. His showing wasn’t particularly impressive — his team was thoroughly defeated — but arguably the most disappointing aspect was the ribbing Woods received from his son Charlie.

Woods opted to stride out to “Eye of the Tiger,” a track that gained popularity almost three decades before Charlie’s arrival, and Charlie was not impressed with the choice. Moments later, Woods overshot the green on the second hole, landing in the simulated water behind the hole, leaving Charlie in disbelief:

Subsequently, in the match, Kevin Kisner, a teammate of Tiger’s at TGL who had a rough night, humorously suggested that he wanted Charlie to take his place. If Kisner continues to have nights like Tuesday, that jest might very well turn into reality.

Tiger and Charlie share a deep bond and have participated in the annual PNC Championship, a parent-child challenge, for several years. The pair fell short in a playoff this previous December, achieving their best joint finish to date.

Last year evidently marked a pivotal moment in their father-son dynamic: the first occasion Charlie triumphed over Tiger on the golf course.

“He defeated me for nine holes,” Woods clarified during the PNC Championship. “He has yet to conquer me for 18 holes. That day is approaching. I’m just delaying it for as long as I can.”

The certainty of Woods’ return to an actual outdoor golf course remains ambiguous. Following the TGL event on Tuesday night, he suggested that his physical condition isn’t the concern; it’s his game that requires improvement.

“I walked, what, all three rounds at PNC, had a great time there, and the walking is not the problem,” he stated. “It’s my performance that is lacking.”

Whenever Woods makes his comeback to the course, one can be certain that Charlie will be nearby, whether inside or outside the ropes, ready to support … and prepared to deliver his dad an unfiltered critique, too.
