Following Musk’s gameplay of Path of Exile 2 during a live session, players quickly observed that his maneuvers did not align with those of a skilled gamer, and they assembled a compilation of evidence on Reddit that strongly suggests Musk is boosting his characters.

Observers reacted with puzzled incredulity—one noted that Musk “doesn’t seem to grasp why he can’t collect items when his inventory is fully stocked.”

It’s important to emphasize that Path of Exile 2 is an exceedingly challenging game that demands a significant time investment to attain the level Musk’s character reached (level 97 in hardcore mode).

A person managing numerous enterprises simply does not have the luxury to accomplish this.

What Transpired Between Elon Musk And Asmongold?

Like numerous gaming streamers, Asmongold viewed Musk’s livestream of Path of Exile 2 and concluded that Musk lacked knowledge of how to play the game correctly.

Asmon escalated the situation by challenging Musk to demonstrate that he had achieved level 97 on his own.

Musk replied by posting on X, writing:

“Asmon acts like a rogue “independent”, yet genuinely must seek permission from his boss before doing anything. He is not an individual in his own right.”

The exact meaning of Musk’s statement was unclear until he revealed private messages between himself and Asmon, wherein Asmon refers to his “editors” on YouTube.

Like many Twitch streamers, Asmongold also operates a YouTube channel that features shorter, edited segments of his broadcasts. This editing is conducted by others, with profits from the channel distributed among them.

Musk seems to have misinterpreted the function of a YouTube editor, mistakenly assuming that an editor equates to a journalistic editor who determines the types of stories a publication should cover.

Consequently, Musk appeared to imply that Asmon’s work was being censored to some extent.

Musk then criticized Asmon in another post on X, writing:

“There’s no other way to put it—while Asmon IS adept at sharp commentary and mocking individuals, he is NOT skilled at video games.”

Asmon countered Musk’s provocations, stating: “Leaking my DMs is one thing, but this is completely unwarranted.”

After observing the feud, some of Musk’s supporters within the gaming community seemed disillusioned, with many expressing that the wealthiest person on the planet had betrayed their confidence.

One observer wrote: “As a gamer, you take considerable pride in your rank/level. Attempting to fabricate that while also being the richest individual worldwide is exceedingly absurd. It makes me ponder what else he might be willing to deceive about.”

Others highlighted that there was no necessity for Musk to feign being a talented player—this man has achieved far more in the tangible world compared to the digital domain.

Some expressed skepticism regarding Musk’s other dubious gaming achievements, including his claim of being among the top players globally in Diablo 4.

Others seized the chance to showcase Musk’s infamously clumsy Elden Ring build, outfitted with two shields yet lacking a healing flask (somehow, his character had reached level 111).

To clarify, it’s entirely reasonable if Musk isn’t particularly skilled at playing video games, whether it involves Path of Exile 2 or Elden Ring.

Muskis a parent to 11 offspring, the chief executive officer of various enterprises, and is shortly anticipated to secure a role in Trump’s administration. It is evident that he lacks the spare time to engage in these time-consuming competitions at the supposed difficulty level he alleges, nor is it necessary for him to do so.
