The registered nurse (RN) is responsible for orchestrating nursing care, which encompasses direct patient support, patient/family education, and care transitions. The RN advocates for professional nursing practices across various settings and through the continuum of care to fulfill the needs of patients and their families. The RN will operate within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which entails accountability for planning, executing, assessing, and communicating all phases of nursing care for designated patients. The RN allocates patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, financial responsibility, and resource availability. The registered nurse (RN) in the Mayo Clinic Department of Nursing Central Staffing Pool will offer backup staffing assistance across Mayo Clinic nursing sites as dictated by staffing and patient care requirements. Qualifications
Prerequisites for Med Surg Travel RNs:
Completion of a nursing program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), or National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). If the nursing program attended was not accredited by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA, a minimum of one year of RN experience in an appropriate care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is required.
All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with an RN start date of April 1, 2020, and onward must present documented proof of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program within five years after the RN start date.
All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with an RN start date before April 1, 2020, must provide documented evidence of completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program as per the degree requirement program in effect at the time of hire.
1 year of RN experience (within the last two years) in Operating Room, PACU, or Intensive Care Unit practice settings depending on open position(s).
