SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s and women’s swimming & diving squad concluded the home segment of its schedule on Friday evening, welcoming Carleton for a dual competition and Senior Night at Vic Gustafson Pool. The Gusties achieved a sweep, winning a total of 20 events. The men scored 191 against Carleton’s 109, while the Gustie women triumphed 167-133. 

The men secured victory in 11 events and claimed second place in five additional races, including a clean sweep in Friday’s relays. The 200 medley relay consisting of Peyton Richardson (5th, Crystal Lake, Ill.), Nyden Hill (Sr., Conway, Ark.), Jonah Ohrtman (Fy., Sioux Falls, S.D.), and Logan Braley (Jr., Elk River, Minn.) achieved the fastest time in the event with a solid 1:36.00. The second-place team from Carleton finished with a time of 1:39.12. In the 200 freestyle relay, Logan Cyr (So., Maple Grove, Minn.), Jack Christoferson (Jr., Sauk Rapids, Minn.), Aiden Shermak (So., Bloomington, Minn.), and Braley finished first with a time of 1:28.63. The Gusties also placed second in the 200 free relay, with Will Sarkinen (Jr., St. Michael, Minn.), Matthew Lillejord (So., Naples, Fla.), Theodore Solensky (So., Jamestown, N.D.), and Brendan Collins (So., Maple Grove, Minn.) stopping the clock at 1:29.08. 

Braley contributed two more individual victories leading the Gusties to triumph on Friday, capturing first place in the 50 and 100 freestyle with times of 21.97 and 48.66, respectively. Christoferson finished second in the 50 free trailing his teammate with a time of 22.62, while Shermak secured second in the 100 free with a time of 49.70.

Richardson secured three victories, triumphing in both the 100 and 200 butterfly, alongside the 200 backstroke. He reached the wall first in the 200 fly with a time of 1:59.20, followed by teammate Jacob Robischon (Fy., Sauk Centre, Minn.) in the second position (2:02.22). In the 100 fly, Richardson clocked 51.06 in the 100 fly and 1:58.22 in the 200 backstroke. 

Ben Kell (So., Minneapolis, Minn.), Collins, Hill, and Cyr completed the Gustie individual victories on Friday, with Kell winning the 1,000 freestyle (10:23.23), Collins the 200 freestyle (1:49.54), Hill the 100 breaststroke (59.92), and Cyr the 500 freestyle (4:55.69). Kell and Lillejord achieved second and third place finishes in the 500 freestyle behind Cyr. 

Cyr was the top performer in the 100 backstroke, finishing second in 55.12. Hill earned a second-place finish in the 200 breaststroke, while Robischon took second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:01.01. 

On the diving boards, Ryan Lester (Sr., Hastings, Minn.) secured second place both on the 1-meter (220.00) and the 3-meter (285.15). Trevor Johnson (Jr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) finished fourth on the 1-meter and third on the 3-meter. 

The Gustie women also dominated in both relays, with Eloise Cooper (Fy., Stevens Point, Wis.), Lindsay Sundby (Jr., Randolph, Minn.), Marit Isaacson (Sr., St. Paul, Minn.), and Olivia Koeneman (So., Mankato, Minn.) winning the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:51.55 to kick off Friday’s meet. Isaacson, Geneva Fackler (Fy., Plymouth, Minn.), Stella Anderson Moye (So., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.), and Koeneman claimed victory in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:40.97.

Fackler and Anderson Moye both achieved two individual wins on Friday, as the freshman Fackler triumphed in both the 1,000 and the 500 freestyle. She recorded a time of 11:11.31 in the 1,000, followed by a 5:25.35 in the 500 free. Anderson Moye and Teresa Gatti (Fy., St. Paul, Minn.) finished second and third behind Fackler in the 500 freestyle as well. Kateyln Siers (Fy., St. Cloud, Minn.) won the 50 free with a time of 25.33, while Linnea Reinsmoen (Fy., Doha, Qatar) claimed first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:00.60. Sommer Krause added a first-place finish in the 200 IM clocking 2:18.74, followed closely by Reinsmoen in the second position. 

Cooper and Felicia Symreng (So., Stockholm, Sweden) contributed second-place finishes for the Gusties in the 100 backstroke (Cooper, 1:00.62) and the 200 backstroke (Symreng, 2:17.93). Gustavus also secured third to eighth places in the 200 back. Sundby reached the highest Gustie position in the 100 breaststroke, taking third in 1:12.18. Krause also captured third in the 200 butterfly, marking the highest Gustie position in that event. 

On the diving boards, Gabriella Stoudt (Jr., Maple Plain, Minn.) secured third place on both the 1-meter (203.60) and the 3-meter (220.60). Jessica Pagelkopf (So., Esko, Minn.) added points for the Gusties in both events as well, finishing fifth in each competition.

The Gusties will head to Wisconsin next weekend for the two-day UW-Stevens Point Invite on Friday and Saturday. The commencement times for competition are set for 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday.
