Announcement from World Equestrian Center
The $32,000 YETI Grand Prix Qualifier CSI2* was the main event of the morning during the third week of the 2025 Winter Spectacular Show Series. Nineteen-year-old Will Martin (CAN) showcased competence well beyond his age, guiding Totale De Res Nova (Comme II Faut x Verdi) to a time early in the jump-off sequence that remained unchallenged.
The expertly crafted course by Anderson Lima saw 15 combinations advance to the jump-off, but only eight achieved double-clear rounds.
Will Simpson (USA) and Whoop De Doo were the first to return for the jump-off, achieving a swift time of 33.63 seconds but with an unfortunate four faults.
Next in line, Martin and Lesley Martin’s Totale De Res Nova produced a rapid round in 32.40 seconds that no one was able to surpass.
“I was aware of the fierce competition behind me, so going early in the sequence, I decided to take a chance,” Martin noted. “This was really the first true test for that horse, and he responded to everything excellently. I just kept pushing the pace the whole time and knew he would perform well if I maintained that momentum. The only uncertainty for me was whether to take five or six strides out of the double, but I managed to get it right, and the five worked out for me.”
Reflecting on the 10-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding, Martin remarked, “He’s a new addition to my stable. I acquired him last June, and we’ve been gradually developing our partnership. This is actually our first FEI week together.”
He also complimented the venue, adding, “It’s a fantastic place. I don’t reside here, but it’s one of my favorite equestrian events to attend. The facilities are top-notch, the people are exceptional, and importantly, the horses seem to enjoy it the most.”
Laura Kraut (USA) closely followed with Cherry Knoll Farm, Inc.’s nine-year-old KWPN mare, Lady D (Eldorado Vd Zeshoek x Indoctro), concluding in 33.77 seconds after their triumph in yesterday’s $32,000 1.40m Speed CSI2*.
Marie Hecart (FRA) and Vahinee (Lauterbach x Darco), a 16-year-old Selle Francais mare owned by Normandie Connection LTD, completed the top three with a clear and speedy round in 33.98 seconds.
