Vikings Conclude Home Season with a Triumphant Triangular Showdown

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana swimming and diving squads concluded their home schedule with a triangular event at the Midco Aquatic Center on Friday evening.

In the Fast Lane 

-The opening Viking triumph of the evening occurred in the 200 yard medley relay when Ella Ward-Zeller, Nesrine Jelliti, Angela -Chan and Meesha Montgomery finished with a time of 1:44.84, merely .2 seconds ahead of Bryn Greenwaldt, Anna Tindall, Gracin Larson and Makoa Montgomery. 

-For the men’s 200 yard medley relay, Jackson Dircks, Mason Kauffeld, Pedro Borin and Peyton Bartsch secured the top time at 1:32.67 

-Greenwaldt claimed her first individual title of the night in the 100 yard backstroke, clocking in at 55.97, more than two seconds faster than the runner-up.

-In the 100 breaststroke, Kauffeld reached the wall after 58.24 seconds to seize the title. 

-The men’s 200 fly showcased three of the top four finishers sporting Augustana colors, led by Pedro Borin’s 1:55.18

–Peyton Bartsch sped through the 50 yard free, finishing in 20.96 to secure victory. 

-Greenwaldt also recorded an NCAA Provisional Time in the 100 yard free, finalizing at 51.93. 

–Isaac Rokusek clinched a narrow victory in the men’s 100 free, finishing in 47.60. 

-In 2:07.49, Ward-Zeller swam through the 200 backstroke for another win added to her accomplishments.

–Matthew Pietsch achieved a win in the men’s 200 backstroke with a time of 1:52.72. 

-Kauffeld returned to his winning form in the 200 breaststroke, concluding in 2:08:00, over five seconds ahead of second place. 

-Borin attained his second victory of the evening, finishing the 100 fly in 51.11. 

–Meesha Montgomery’s 2:11.40 in the 200 IM facilitated her top placement and earned the Vikings nine points.

-Rokusek secured the final individual win of the night with a 1:56.87 time in the 200 IM.

-In the closing relay triumph of the evening, Greenwaldt, Chan, Makoa Montgomery and Sofia Hein won with a time of 1:34.76 in the 200 free relay. 

Off the Boards

–Avery Lommel and Kate Robbins both gathered points in the 3m diving, finishing with 247.73 and 235.95 points, taking second and third places, respectively. 

-Lommel and Robbins each also finished second and third in the 1m diving.

The Augustana women will head to Mankato, Minnesota for a Saturday dual against Minnesota State.
