OUR EXPECTATIONS FROM THE ROLE:

Accountable for managing and overseeing all aspects of Recreation and Lifestyle, including spa, swimming pool, wellness initiatives, brand alignment, public relations efforts, revenue generation, services, operational hours, recreational facilities, and staff. Facilitates the delivery of spa services, which include salon, skincare, fitness and wellness, massage, program coordination, reservations, reception area, and locker room spaces. As a department head, provides direction and collaborates with the management team and hourly staff to successfully implement all spa operations. Continuously pursues enhancements in guest and employee satisfaction while maximizing the department’s financial performance. Develops and executes marketing strategies for the fitness assessment center and health initiatives.

Experience:

• At least 8 years’ experience in spa/recreation operations or a related professional field.

Skills and Knowledge 

• Customer and Personal Service – Understanding of principles and processes for delivering customer and personal services. This encompasses assessing customer needs, fulfilling quality standards for services, and evaluating customer satisfaction.
• Analytical/Critical Thinking – The capability to gather and organize information using a logical and methodical approach; identify patterns and interrelations in complex data; analyze data to uncover implications, issues, and derive suitable conclusions; generate alternative solutions to challenges; assess the strengths, weaknesses, and consequences of various solutions and methods for problem-solving.

Education or Certification 

• 2-year degree from an accredited university in Health Education, Physical Education, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related field; no prior work experience required.

The following are specific duties and contributions essential for the successful execution of the position:

Overseeing Spa, Recreation, and Lifestyle Operations and Budgets

• Chooses vendors for spa retail operations and oversees contract agreements.

• Supervises retail product research, product selection and purchase, product display.

• Manages supply inventories and purchasing control, including uniforms.

• Tracks the spa’s actual and projected sales to ensure revenue objectives are fulfilled or surpassed.

• Ensures cleanliness of the spa and related areas and equipment.

Overseeing Spa, Recreation, and Lifestyle Sales and Marketing Strategy

• Designs and coordinates exclusive services for groups, including group gifting programs, group amenities, group turndown gifts, letters, and invitations, crafting unique spa services for specific groups and overseeing spa contract negotiations.

• Formulates and supervises spa promotions, including gifting programs, gift with purchase, co-op marketing initiatives, and seasonal events.

• Ensures spa services are included in all property-related marketing and advertising efforts.

• Identifies and recommends new products and enhancements to maintain competitiveness in the marketplace. Overseeing Spa, Recreation, and Lifestyle Revenue Management Strategy

• Oversees and manages the payroll function.

• Supervises operational areas to budget by analyzing operating statements, budget worksheets, and payroll progress reports.

• Manages Spa controllable expenses, such as guest amenities, linen costs, professional salon products, plants, decorations, and paper supplies to meet or exceed budgeted targets.

Ensuring and Delivering Exceptional Customer Service

• Displays leadership in guest hospitality, exemplifying outstanding customer service, and cultivating a positive atmosphere for guest relations.

• Empowers team members to provide excellent customer service.

• Strives to enhance service performance.

Conducting Human Resources Activities

• Analyzes feedback from comment cards, guest satisfaction…

results and additional information to pinpoint areas for enhancement.

• Discusses findings with staff to formulate suitable corrective measures, sharing strategies with property leadership and ensuring corrective actions are implemented to consistently enhance outcomes.

• Engages in interviews and recruits management and hourly staff possessing the necessary expertise to fulfill operational business requirements.

• Designs, executes, and oversees a Spa orientation initiative for employees to receive the essential new hire training to successfully carry out their responsibilities.

• Manages the performance evaluation process for direct report managers.

• Establishes business objectives and formulates suitable development plans.

• Fosters and sustains open, collaborative relationships with staff, ensuring that employees reciprocate within the team.

• Solicits employee input, employs an “open door” policy, and reviews employee satisfaction metrics to recognize and address staff issues or concerns.

• Guarantees that consistent ongoing communication occurs in all areas of responsibility to raise awareness of business goals and conveys expectations, acknowledges performance, and delivers desired business outcomes.

• Commemorates achievements and publicly acknowledges the input of team members.
