Gaskins and Acquah Smash Records at the Thrilling Battle in Beantown!

BOSTON, Mass. — The University of Massachusetts men’s track and field squad transformed the program record books during the Battle in Beantown competition on Saturday, with nine new entries into the all-time top 10 along with two program records in the triple jump and 300m dash.
 
Highlights from the Competition:

• Godot Gaskins established a new program record in the men’s 300m dash, finishing second with a time of 33.81. Chris Scalia (36.22), Mark Sten (36.35), and Malcolm Clark (36.50) also made their way onto the program’s top 10 for this event, ranking 7^th-9^th respectively.
• Matthew Acquah achieved a top finish in the triple jump, posting a new program-best of 50’00.50″.
• Corey Sanders placed 4^th in the men’s 400m dash with a time of 49.27. Michael Sanchez (50.30) finished closely behind, securing 7^th.
• Colin Kirn (1:21.61) and Nicholas Calitri (1:21.82) completed the top 10 finishes in the men’s 600m run, finishing 9^th and 10^th, respectively. Tyler Medeiros (1:23.45) joins Calitri as new members of the program’s top 10 performance list for this event, with Kirn holding the top spot with his program-leading time from the 2024 Battle in Beantown.
• Will Kenney (4:05.11) and Collin Catherwood (4:05.38) secured silver and bronze in the men’s mile. Catherwood’s time earned him a position among the program’s top 10 performers for the mile, ranking fifth overall. Kenney’s 2024 program record of 4:01.48 continues to top the Massachusetts record listings.
• The 4x400m relay squad of Winston Lewis, Michael Sanchez, Corey Sanders, and Godot Gaskins recorded the 10^th-fastest time in the school’s history, completing the race in 3:17.01, placing 3^rd overall.
• Nick Cramer finished 4^th in the men’s 60m hurdles finals with a time of 8.59.
• Hunter Feitel secured bronze in the pole vault, clearing a height of 14’07.25″.
• Chamberlain Guthrie finished 4^th in the long jump, recording a best of 21’05.25″ for the day.
• Jack Ngo took bronze in the shot put, achieving a distance of 42’00.50″.
