Bulldogs Shine as Rohwer and Coleman Claim Preseason Accolades with Top Three Ranking!

BOSTON, MASS. – The conference revealed on Tuesday afternoon that Makenna Coleman and Sam Rohwer of the Bryant University softball squad have been distinguished on the America East Preseason All-Conference Team.

Additionally, the Bulldogs were ranked third in the coaches’ preseason survey. Reigning champions UAlbany secured the top spot, garnering three first-place votes; Binghamton took second place with two first-place votes, followed by the Bulldogs. UMass Lowell and UMBC tied for fourth, with the River Hawks receiving one first-place vote, while Maine obtained the sixth position.

Coleman is coming off an outstanding season, having been awarded the AE Rookie of the Year, First Team, and the Rookie Team honors. She amassed 41 hits, eight doubles, four triples, six home runs, 25 RBI, along with a batting average of .347. Coleman notched 12 multi-hit games and achieved a remarkable 13-game hitting streak from Apr. 13 – 21, the longest in the history of freshmen in the DI program. In AE competition, she recorded a .400 batting average, 16 RBI, three HRs, and 11 XBH. Coleman was also selected for the AE All-Tournament team.

Rohwer earned a spot on the AE First-Team and Rookie Team after achieving 34 hits, five doubles, seven home runs, 29 RBI, alongside a slugging percentage of .469. She had eight multi-hit matchups and seven multi-RBI performances.

The Black and Gold are returning from an impressive season, during which head coach Bianka Bell was recognized as Co-Coach of the Year. The team established a DI program record for victories with 34 and matched the regular-season record of 32 wins. The squad also set a DI program benchmark for home victories with 15 and clinched six of their seven America East series, including two sweeps.

The Bulldogs are set to commence the 2025 season at the Bearkat Classic on February 7th, where they will contend against Tulsa and Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
