SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Concluding an outstanding initial regular season as a Mustang, Evan Yoo achieved his third overall and second consecutive Big West Men’s Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week accolade.

Yoo played a crucial role in leading the Mustangs to their inaugural undefeated dual-meet season in the program’s NCAA Division I history. Consequently, he now holds five school records: three individual (200 IM, 100 Breast, 200 Breast) and two relay (200 Medley, 400 Medley).

The breaststroke expert secured first place in all of his races for the third consecutive competition, with a standout performance in his 100 Breast (52.79). Yoo finally accomplished the elusive program record that he had narrowly missed on several occasions this season, breaking the decade-old record by .15 seconds. That time qualifies as a B-Cut and tentatively places him tied-61st in NCAA DI swimming.

Yoo also triumphed in the 200 Breast (1:54.61), just over half a second shy of his program record, finishing over six seconds ahead of the nearest competitor, and concluded his day with a victory in the 200 IM (1:47.01).

A clear contender for podium positions in the conference next month, Yoo remains within reach of making an appearance in the NCAA Championship due to his 200 Breast time, with opportunities to enhance that time as well as his 100 Breast and 200 IM during the Big West Championships.
