Hoyas Shine Bright: Four Players Recognized as Preseason All-Americans by USA Lacrosse Magazine

WASHINGTON – Four distinguished men’s lacrosse players from Georgetown University have been recognized as USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason All-Americans, as revealed by the publication on Wednesday. Sophomore defender Ty Banks received a spot on the second team, graduate student faceoff expert James Ball was awarded third team honors, and both graduate student attackman Aidan Carroll and sophomore goalkeeper Anderson Moore earned honorable mention recognition.
 
Ty Banks
Sophomore | Defense
Coquitlam, B.C.

After a remarkable first season with the Hoyas, Banks was recognized as both a USA Lacrosse Magazine and USILA Honorable Mention All-American in 2024. He led his team with 24 caused turnovers throughout the season and collected 33 ground balls while being Georgetown’s primary cover defender. Banks played a crucial role in helping the Blue & Gray restrict their opponents to 10 goals or fewer in 13 matches and achieving a top-10 scoring defense allowance of just 9.65 goals per game. He was also honored as an All-BIG EAST First Team member during his first year on the Hilltop.
 
James Ball
Graduate Student | Faceoff Specialist

In his inaugural season with the Hoyas, Ball was designated a USA Lacrosse Magazine Honorable Mention All-American last year. He achieved 186 victories out of 314 faceoffs (.592) for the year, alongside 96 ground balls and four points (2G, 2A). His performance earned him a spot on the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team while the Hoyas captured their sixth consecutive league tournament title, tying an NCAA Division I record.
 
Aidan Carroll
Graduate Student | Attack
Milton, Mass.
Carroll enjoyed an exceptional senior year with the Hoyas in 2024, attaining both USA Lacrosse Magazine and USILA Honorable Mention All-America accolades. He was recognized as a First Team All-BIG EAST player and was named the BIG EAST Tournament Most Outstanding Player, contributing to Georgetown’s sixth consecutive league championship. Carroll recorded 37 goals and provided 23 assists for a total of 60 points, ranking him 15th for the most points in a single season on the Hilltop. He scored game-winning goals in overtime against both the top-ranked Notre Dame during the regular season and Providence in the BIG EAST Tournament Semifinals. Off the field, the captain was recognized as a USILA Scholar All-American and honored as a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District.
 
Anderson Moore
Sophomore | Goalie
Birmingham, Ala.
In his debut year as a goalkeeper at Georgetown in 2024, Moore received USILA Honorable Mention All-American recognition. He was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and selected as an All-BIG EAST Second Team member, finishing the season with a 13-4 overall record and a 9.52 goals-against average, complementing 166 saves and a .512 save percentage. Moore became just the sixth Hoya goalkeeper to achieve All-America honors and was the first freshman to receive such recognition in the program’s history.
 
Georgetown will kick off the 2025 season at home against Loyola on Saturday, February 1.
