Triumphant Trio: Rariden, Zietlow, and Otero Claim This Week’s #HLSD Honors!

INDIANAPOLIS – The IU Indy swim and dive squad garnered three out of the four Horizon League weekly honors with Nathan Rariden, Emmaleigh Zietlow, and Sebastian Otero all receiving #HLSD weekly accolades for the second consecutive week.
 
Rariden achieves his second career Swimmer of the Week award after securing two individual first-place finishes with two pool records against Washington University. He triumphed in the 1000 free with a time of 9:26.59 and claimed first place in the 500 free, finishing in 4:32.85.

This signifies Rariden’s second career #HLSD Swimmer of the Week accolade.

 

Zietlow, a senior hailing from Hartland, Wisconsin, receives the honor after guiding the women’s swim team to a weekend victory at Washington University with three individual victories, establishing new pool records in all three events. She finished first in the 200 free (1:49.99), 500 free (4:56.10), and the 200 IM (2:03.53), and aided in winning the 400 medley relay with a combined time of 3:49.94.

 

Zietlow has now earned the title of Swimmer of the Week five times this season, amounting to a total of 13 times in her IU Indy career.

 

Sebastian Otero, a junior from Fishers, Indiana, continues to excel for the Jaguars on the diving board, securing his sixth title of the season after dominating the competition against Washington University. He finished first in the 1-meter with a score of 329.90 and clinched first in the 3-meter with a score of 350.02.

 

Otero now boasts six Diver of the Week awards this season and an overall total of 18 weekly titles throughout his collegiate career.

The IU Indy men’s and women’s swim and dive teams will next compete on February 1 when they host Wabash and Butler at 12:00 PM.
