(WIFR) – An Ogle County photographer earns first place within the 11-14 age bracket of the annual Cream of the Crop state images contest.
John G. from Stillman Valley submitted ‘Harvest Time,” which shows a bird’s eye view during the grain harvesting season.

The contest consists of three age groups — ages 8-10, 11-14 and 15-18. For placing first in his age group, John will receive a $1,000 Bright Start 529 scholarship and his photo will be displayed Aug. 7-17 at the Illinois State Fair.
The winning entries and different picture submissions can be featured within the 2025-2026 Ag Invest calendar, and the first-place photographs additionally can be displayed within the foyer of the Illinois State Treasurer’s Office constructing in downtown Springfield.
“Congratulations to the young photographers who have showcased their talents and creativity in the Cream of the Crop competition this year,” Frerichs said. “Their photos illustrate the beauty and diversity of agriculture in Illinois.”
The Cream of the Crop Program, now in its 13th year, is part of the Illinois State Treasurer’s Ag Invest program which offers loan opportunities for farmers in the state.
