Join us at ICP for the signing of artist John Paul for his newest launch, DBL, a number of photographic works within the type of eight folded posters.

Through his photos, PJ data fragments of the town — bits of structure, shifting lights, fleeting occasions — with out predetermined narrative or construction. Shot throughout walks, his images emerge from an intuitive and improvisational course of. Over time, movie rolls are revisited and re-exposed, leading to liminal, tactile, timeless traces of his many dérives by way of city. DBL gives a mirrored image on motion, reminiscence, and notion whereas exploring the wonder that may be present in an intentional partial lack of management.

About Paul John

Paul John (he/him) is an artist, neighborhood organizer, photographer, and educator. His work is to attach folks and create neighborhood by way of useful resource sharing, bookmaking, internet hosting occasions, and establishment constructing. Paul co-founded Endless Editions and the Brooklyn Art Book Fair. Both organizations give attention to creating free or low-risk alternatives in unbiased publishing and bookmaking.

Paul is the Head of Community at NEW INC, an incubator program that operates by way of the New Museum in NYC. Previously, Paul developed the Risograph Printing program on the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, was the Coordinator of Printing and Publishing on the Jan van Eyck Academie, and taught Risograph printing on the School of Visual Arts.

While his images highlights missed and distorted realities, his future ambitions are to proceed to foster non-competitive areas for communities to flourish by way of ice cream making and internet hosting a breakfast residency.
