Named after a fighter jet, designed like a slantnose, powered by witchcraft
Published: 15 Aug 2025
A Californian firm that specialises in remastering Porsche 911s has unleashed its newest missive. No, not that firm, the opposite one. Not that one both. It’s Gunther Werks, and the mad, dangerous ‘Project F-26’. You ought to be fairly afraid.
Because beneath that aggressive, evenly bonkers visage lies a really darkish coronary heart. GW has taken the bones of a 993-spec 911 – the final of the air-cooled 911s! – and stuffed it with a lot horsepower it’s virtually bursting out of its 935-inspired swimsuit.

There’s a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre flat-six co-developed by Rothsport Racing, cooled by a “race-derived” flat fan – apparently in a position to present double the air than an everyday vertical one – in a position to produce a cool 1,000bhp.
And 750lb ft of torque. Those horsies and torques are bravely marshalled by a six-speed handbook gearbox and a restricted slip diff, sending drive to the rear wheels alone. There isn’t any 0-62mph time, however you’ll be too busy hanging on to care.
Especially as a result of F-26’s chassis has been given sufficient scaffolding to permit a 200 per cent improve in rigidity over the bottom 993. It’s been barely stretched, too. There’s a hydraulic steering setup, customized suspension arms, adaptive JRZ dampers, motorsport-spec ABS, and superior traction management (very sensible).
Elsewhere you’ll discover huge carbon ceramic brakes all spherical (six pots up entrance, 4 on the again), magnesium 18in wheels, and a bespoke “935-style” exhaust.

Speaking of the 935, GW has fitted carbon fibre physique panels and doorways, and a bespoke CF front-end with headlights that recall the well-known slantnose. Only these aren’t pop-ups, however mounted. Still, there’s a high-downforce CF rear wing too, and all in, GW reckons on a weight of simply 1,225kg.
Looks pretty particular inside, too: a number of leather-based and Alcantara, uncovered carbon fibre, a steering wheel that “draws inspiration from the wing-angle profile of a fighter jet”, and a wood gearknob that doffs its little wood cap to basic racing Porsches.
“It’s our way of bridging nostalgia with next-gen performance for the modern driver,” stated Gunther Werks founder Peter Nam. For a chosen variety of fashionable drivers, as is the way in which with such unobtanium: GW is barely constructing 26 of those mad, dangerous Project F-26 automobiles, and every one begins at $1,570,000.
