On Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m., fine-art photographer Dale Strattman will be part of us at Newton Public Library to present a speak about his newest mission, “The In-Between Moment.”
Sometimes, pictures can present the moments in time that reveal life because it’s taking place: the tiny segments of actuality that often go unnoticed. Swiss photographer Robert Frank known as this “The In-Between Moment.” In an immediate, a second is captured when issues aren’t fairly proper, or when they’re simply precisely proper. One of the distinctive capabilities of nonetheless images is freezing these closing dates.
“Many of these images were taken while just walking down the street,” writes Dale. “None of them were planned or preconceived; they were a spontaneous reaction to life as it was happening. I am particularly attracted to universal subject matter: quiet moments, exciting events such as weddings, children as they play, people reading, and people on the street. These are once in lifetime moments, recorded and indefinitely preserved in silver.”
Dale taught images from 1972 to 2013, first at West and Northwest excessive faculties in Wichita, then at Tabor College and Wichita State University. His work has appeared at Wichita State’s Ulrich Museum, and in a number of solo exhibits at Wichita CityArts.
