Employment Response Team – Carbonear Employment Centre

A devoted Employment Response Team has been established on the Carbonear Employment Centre to:

Increased Work Supports Program Funding

The Work Supports program provides eligible clients with work related supports to assist them with seeking, obtaining, or maintaining employment.

  • Up to $2,000 per person to assist with work supports that can include replacement of tools required for employment, certificate of conduct, work attire, and other employment-related costs.
  • This program has been extended to include self-employed individuals with restarting operations.

Enhanced Wage Subsidy Supports

The Wildfire Response Wage Subsidy Program is designed to support employers in the Conception Bay North area and employers hiring individuals displaced by recent wildfires. The intent of the program is to promote economic stability, facilitate employment opportunities, and support community resilience in the wake of wildfire disruptions.

This program:

  • Provides a wage subsidy for up to 42 weeks, helping businesses maintain or expand their workforce while contributing to the recovery of affected individuals.
  • Allows employers to hire multiple individuals under the subsidy and fill vacant positions with individuals impacted by the wildfires.

Job Creation Partnerships (JCP) – Reopened

The Job Creation Partnerships (JCP) Program is now accepting applications for projects that support wildfire-impacted areas. If you are part of a group or organization looking to make a difference, here’s how your project could qualify:

  • Community Recovery and Remediation: Help rebuild damaged infrastructure, clean up affected areas, and support local economic recovery efforts that create jobs and strengthen long-term resilience.
  • Forestry and Silviculture: Focus on reclaiming wildfire sites and preparing land to rebuild what was lost.
  • Fire Prevention and Preparedness: Contribute to fire risk assessments, develop mitigation plans, or run public awareness campaigns to help communities stay safe in the future.

If you are an individual looking to access support, please make sure to complete the Request for Service form. Once it is submitted, a representative from the department will reach out to you directly.

If you are an employer interested in applying for supports through these initiatives, and you are new to the process, please complete Employer Registration form ahead of time. Even if you are just considering applying, it is a good idea to register now, as processing can take 7–10 days.
