Inaugural Newmarket exhibition options photographers from throughout province

For Newmarket-based photographer Scott Visscher, the night time sky is a supply of inspiration — and capturing its magnificence is a craft.

He creates pictures he calls ‘nightscapes’ by mixing dozens of photographs of starry landscapes taken within the quiet nonetheless of the night time round Lake Simcoe and Muskoka.

“When I go out and set up my tripod and camera and stuff, it’s a very grounding and relaxing experience,” stated Visscher, who about 5 years in the past began leaning into pictures as an artwork type. 

Visscher is one in all 44 artists whose work will likely be proven on the Newmarket Fine Art Photography Exhibition at Old Town Hall beginning Thursday.

The Newmarket Fine Art Photography Exhibition will likely be on at Old Town Hall’s Serpa Galleries Sept. 4 to 27. It is closed Mondays, open Tuesday and Wednesday 11 a.m. to six p.m., Thursday and Friday 11 a.m. to eight p.m., and Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. to five p.m. 

A reception open to all will likely be held Sept. 11 from 6 to 10 p.m. The present can also be collaborating in Newmarket Culture Days, a three-day celebration of the humanities, with a photographer-led walkthrough of the city Sept. 20 from 2 to 4 p.m.
