CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Conference motion begins this weekend in Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer, with 5 league matches on the docket.

A pair of rivalry matches will probably be broadcast on ACC Network this weekend, with No. 5 NC State taking part in host to North Carolina on Friday, September 5, at 7:30 p.m. ET and Notre Dame taking up No. 4 Indiana in non-conference play on Sunday, September 7, at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Noting ACC Men’s Soccer

• League play begins Friday, with 5 matches slated for this weekend.

• ACC groups have mixed for a 35-8-9 document within the first two weeks of non-conference play (.760 win proportion, better of any league).

• Off to a 4-0 begin, Stanford ascended to No. 1 within the United Soccer Coaches Poll this week. 

• Seven ACC groups are ranked within the high 15 of the United Soccer Coaches Poll, together with three within the high 5 and 6 within the high 10: Stanford (1), Clemson (3), NC State (5), Wake Forest (7), Virginia Tech (8), Pitt (10) and Duke (14). Both totals are essentially the most of any league.

• Five ACC standouts have been named to the Men’s Hermann Trophy Watch List: Ransford Gyan (Clemson), Ulfur Bjornsson (Duke), Luca Nikolai (UNC), Casper Svendby (Pitt) and Cooper Flax (Wake Forest).

• ACC groups have gained 20 NCAA males’s soccer championships, with 11 since 2001, together with three of the final 4 (Clemson 2021 & 2023, Syracuse 2022). Eight lively ACC packages have gained at the least one nationwide championship, essentially the most of any convention. The 15 lively ACC faculties have mixed for 20 titles.

• At least one ACC workforce has reached the Men’s College Cup in 22 of the final 24 seasons. Thirteen of the 15 lively ACC packages have reached the College Cup. Sixty-five ACC groups have reached the College Cup all-time.

• Six lively ACC head coaches have gained D-I nationwide championships as a head coach: Mike Noonan (Clemson), Carlos Somoano (UNC), Jay Vidovich (Pitt), Jeremy Gunn (Stanford), Ian McIntyre (Syracuse) and George Gelnovatch (Virginia). NC State’s Marc Hubbard gained a Division II nationwide title in 2013.
