Egremont — Nonprofit group Blue Rider Stables held their annual Fun Day at French Park on Saturday, August 30.

The group was based in 1991 and presents a number of packages at its South Egremont location, together with therapeutic and adaptive using packages for each kids and adults. Its mission, based on the organization’s website, is “to offer a holistic educational environment in which people and animals can safely interact and, through their mutual therapeutic experiences, broaden the scope of their lives.”

“We’re holding this event in order to celebrate community, the end of summer, and to celebrate our horses,” group co-founder Christine Sierau advised The Berkshire Edge. “People like horses so much because they are noble, strong, gentle, and calm. They influence us in many ways.”

The group at the moment has 14 horses and two donkeys.

Attendees of the occasion bought an opportunity to journey and see among the secure’s horses and ponies.

“I could talk all day about why people like horses,” stated Blue Rider Stables Head Instructor Becky Daddona. “They are really big, but they are not intimidating. We domesticated horses about 6,000 years ago, and only in the last 100 years [have] we stopped using them in our day to day life. A lot of people feel like they speak to something kind of genetic in us. We’re so used to being with horses, and it has been a big part of our lives for years.”

Daddona emphasised that horses “really stir something deep in people.” “They also have a really big electromagnetic field, so they can feel our heartbeat from almost 30 feet away,” she stated. “They have a naturally calming and soothing effect on a lot of people.”

According to Daddona, the group began its Fun Day occasion 35 years in the past however stopped this system in 2020. “This is the first year we’re doing this event again, and we like to do this because our Egremont community helps us so much,” she stated. “This is a way for our organization to give back to the community. Anybody can come in during this event and pet our horses and take a ride on them. This is a low-stress event for families.”
