ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico swimming and diving program hosted its season-opening Cherry-Silver Intrasquad meet at Seidler Natatorium, with the team split between swimmers and divers into two teams.

While it was a meet not that dissimilar from the game show Who’s Line is it Anyway, in that the points were made up and everyone was a winner, the meet did serve as a great way to get some collegiate careers off the ground, and it was a terrific way for team-bonding.

No team scores were kept for the dance competition to start things off. Also, the Silver team certainly seemed to have practiced a bit more, but when it counted, the team went through sprint and intermediate races (no distance), and diving held one and 3-meter abbreviated programs.

Now the meet wasn’t without some fun, as the swimmers held a diving competition (Emily Ford and Mollie Gorman certainly were the top-10 according to the “scorers”) and the divers all raced a leg of the final relay, swimming a 25-yard leg.

The scores and times didn’t matter so much as a chance to go through the paces before opening up for real next month in Las Cruces in a dual meet against New Mexico State and Utah Tech on October 10.
