About the art work

Cowboy boots are certainly one of quite a lot of tropes that recur typically in my apply. They are sometimes seen within the physiognomies of my sculptures. Decorative particulars from cowboy boots seem on the backs of them or elements of their physiognomies grows out of cowboy boots. I’m notably fascinated about the way in which that these boots conflate utilitarian masculinity with unselfconscious decorativeness.

They are each extremely pure, in that they’re fabricated from the pores and skin of cows, and extremely contrived, with their elaborate ornamentation. ‘Boot Camp’ is my most direct celebration of cowboy boots, a glittering, fragile pile of them reconstituted in hand blown glass. There is an satisfying irony in these most utilitarian and durable of footwear rendered in a cloth that would so simply shatter.
