• Michigan Tech wraps up the primary portion of the GLIAC schedule this weekend with a house and street match.
• The Huskies host Northern Michigan on Thursday at 6 p.m. in a non-conference contest.
• The weekend wraps up at Purdue Northwest on Sunday at 3 p.m. Eastern.

SCOUTING NMU

• Northern Michigan is 5-9 general and 4-2 within the GLIAC. The wins are over Wheeling, Parkside, Roosevelt, Saginaw Valley State, and Lake Superior State.

• Liesl Haugen is second within the GLIAC in digs per set (4.48). McKenzie Gruner is third within the GLIAC in hitting share (.332) and tenth in kills per set (2.98).

• Head Coach Mike Lozier is in his ninth season in Marquette.

• The Wildcats had been picked fourth within the GLIAC Preseason Poll after going 20-9 general and 13-4 within the GLIAC in 2024.

 

SCOUTING PNW

• Purdue Northwest is 6-6 general and 3-3 within the GLIAC. The wins are over McKendree, Cal State San Marcos (twice), Roosevelt, SVSU, and LSSU. PNW is 2-2 at dwelling and hosts NMU on Saturday to start the weekend.

• Marina Gronkiewicz leads the GLIAC in aces per set (0.70) and is seventh in assists per set (8.9). Kennedy Rowzee is third within the convention in blocks per set (1.10).

• Coach Sean Douglas is in his fourth season main the Pride.

• The Pride had been chosen eighth within the GLIAC Preseason Poll after going 9-18 general and 5-11 within the GLIAC in 2024.

LAST WEEKEND

• The Huskies earned a pair of 3-0 sweeps on the street, taking down Lake Superior State on Friday and Saginaw Valley State on Saturday to increase the profitable streak to 4.

• Rachel Zurek led the offense with 3.8 kills per set, Tess Hayes set the offense with 11.75 assists per set, and Julia Fledderjohn tallied 2.83 digs per set.

• Brooke Dzwik is fourth in aces per set (0.45).

• Jacqueline Yancy is fourth in kills per set (3.49).

• Julia Fledderjohn is eighth in digs per set (3.84).

• Tess Hayes is eighth in assists per set (8.15).

• Tricia Kennedy is eighth in hitting share (.297).

• Rachel Zurek is ninth in kills per set (3.00).

COACH PINDRAL

• Cindy Pindral was named the eighth Head Coach of the Michigan Tech volleyball program on December 2, 2024.

• Pindral returned to the Huskies after being an Assistant Head Coach, Assistant Coach, and Volunteer Coach with the Huskies for seven seasons from 2016 to 2022.

• During her seven years with the Huskies, the staff held a 139-62 general document. Tech went to 4 straight NCAA Tournaments from 2017-21 and received a pair of regular-season GLIAC championships within the spring of 2021 after which repeated within the fall of 2021.

• As a freshman student-athlete on the University of Florida, Pindral was the beginning setter for the Gators who went to the NCAA Sweet 16, received an SEC Championship, and had been ranked as excessive as No. 10.

• She completed her collegiate profession as a three-time starter on the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. She was an Academic All-American and All-RMAC choice.

 

UP NORTH ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM

• Tricia Kennedy was named to the Up North All-Tournament Team after she averaged 1.57 kills per set and 1.14 blocks per set within the 4 matches whereas hitting .333.

• In the 3-0 sweep of Adelphi on Saturday, Kennedy tallied 11 kills and 6 blocks (three solo blocks and three block assists) whereas hitting .550. In the match opener at Minnesota Duluth, the junior center blocker had seven kills and 7 blocks. She added three kills on 4 makes an attempt towards No. 17 Barry.

McKENDREE ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM

• Brooke Dzwik led the Huskies with 32 kills within the three units, averaging 3.2 per set. Also led the Black and Gold with seven aces, and 54 receptions whereas rating second with 28 digs, averaging 2.8 per set.

• Rachel Zurek led the Huskies with 11 blocks on the weekend and put down 27 kills, averaging 3 per set. She had over eight kills in all three matches.
