CHARLESTON, S.C. – The No. 3-ranked Vanderbilt males’s golf group sits in first place on the group leaderboard at The Bryson Invitational after 18 holes of play, because the Commodores carded 10-under 278 in Monday’s opening spherical.

Vandy had 4 golfers end Monday inside the highest 20 on the participant leaderboard, as 4 Dores carded underneath par in Round 1. Junior Chase Nevins is tied for second place at The Bryson Invitational, because the Great Falls, Virginia, native posted a season-best 4-under 68 within the opening spherical. Senior Wells Williams ended his first go-around at Daniel Island Club at 3-under 69 and goes into play on Tuesday in a tie for eleventh. Sophomore Ryan Downes sits one stroke behind at 2-under 70 and begins Round 2 in a tie for 14th.

Freshman Jon Ed Steed was one among two Dores to gather an eagle on Monday, as he completed 2-under on the par-5 Hole 6. Steed ended play tied for nineteenth at 1-under 71. Fellow freshman Michael Riebe carded Vanderbilt’s different eagle on Monday, as he went 2-under on the par-5 Hole 3 to assist end his day at even par. Riebe heads into Tuesday in a tie for thirtieth.
