FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State swim group will journey down south to Long Beach for the third annual Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Open Water Championships on Saturday afternoon on the historic Marine Stadium. 

Bulldog Bones 

  • Fresno State opened the season with a second place end on the residence invitational 
  • This is the third annual open water championships the Bulldogs have participated in
  • This weekend Bulldogs will compete within the 5k and two group relays 
  • Seven Bulldogs will compete within the 5k race 
  • Two Bulldogs hit scoring factors of their first meet – Presley McPhail  and Ella Turner 
  • Seven Bulldogs scored 30 or extra factors on the residence invitational Aliz Kalmar, Natalia Bedolla, Hayley Oke, Ryley Clark, Mackenzie Miller Lung, Grace Ally and Clare Luken 
  • This season’s roster options eight true freshman and three transfers
  • 17 Bulldogs return from final seasons roster

MPSF Open Water Championships 
This would be the largest area of rivals in its three years. Saturday’s race  options almost 200 collegiate swimmers throughout 20 universities, which embrace
Biola, Boston College, BYU, Cal Baptist, Chapman, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Idaho, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, Occidental, Pepperdine, Quincy, Rice, San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, Utah Tech, Washington State, Westmont, and Whittier. 

The Grand Canyon girls are the defending champions. The MPSF held the nation’s first open water intercollegiate convention championship in 2023.

Bulldog Lineup 

11 ‘Dogs are making the journey to Long Beach this weekend – Riley Baldwin, Franzi Djatej, Ava Elliott, Caroline Grimsley, Laura KalmarClare Luken, Marissa Recio, Samantha Arredondo, Marija Rutkauskatie, Jenna Pulkkinen and Clara Laskey

Baldwin, Djatej, Elliott, Grimsley Kalmar, Luken and Recio will characterize the Bulldogs within the 5k race. 

MW Weekly Honors 

  • Fresno State’s Mackenzie Miller Lung and Natalia Bedolla have been named MW Swimmer & Diver of the week, respectively on Oct. 15
  • Bedolla earned her second weekly convention honor of her profession and first of the season 
  • Miller Lung earned 70 factors for the Bulldogs with three occasion wins (100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard medley relay).
  • Miller Lung hit a NCAA qualification within the 100-yard breaststroke  (59.44) which ranks because the third-fastest time within the nation this season and is the third-fastest time in Mountain West historical past
