Tigers Take Lead After Day One among Double Twin Meet at Grinnell

The Colorado College ladies’s swimming and diving crew opened the season on Friday with the primary day of a double twin with Grinnell and Augustana in Grinnell, Iowa.
 
The Tigers maintain a lead in opposition to every college, 106-41 over Augustana and 90-73 over Grinnell.
 
Junior Isabella Cole and freshmen Annie Engstrom and Livi Woolery every posted a person and relay win on Friday.
 
Cole gained the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.97 and swam second on the profitable 400 medley relay. Woolery, in the meantime, led off the 400 medley relay and captured the 100 backstroke in 1:00.62.
 
Engstrom touched first within the 500 freestyle (5:20.5) and was a member of the 400 freestyle relay.
 
Senior Sarah Buchman and sophomore Julia Cox swam on each profitable relay groups, whereas senior Megan Simonson anchored the 400 freestyle relay.
 
“It was a great first night our team really showed up to compete,” head coach Jen Buffin mentioned. “We set the tone early with wins in both the 400 medley and 400 free relays, and it was awesome to see freshman standouts like Livi Woolery and Annie Engstrom capture their first college victories. Isabella Cole also had a strong performance in the 100 breaststroke. We are excited to carry this momentum into tomorrow and put ourselves in position for our first team wins of the year.”
 
The double twin continues on Saturday, Oct. 18, as Friday’s scores will carry over.
