The Springfield-Greene County Library District is celebrating the spooky season with chills, thrills and a contact of the supernatural for all ages. From eerie explorations of horror and witchcraft to festive storytimes and ghoulish gatherings, there’s one thing for everybody who loves a great scare — or just a bit Halloween enjoyable.

The Wild World of Witchcraft – LIVE! with Grady Hendrix

Are witches candy-eating crones, moonlit maidens, broomstick-riding rebels defying darkish fates or one thing extra? New York Times bestselling writer Grady Hendrix celebrates his newest e-book, “Witchcraft for Wayward Girls,” with a wild dive into the darkest corners of witchcraft in books and films at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 27, on the Gillioz Theatre, 325 Park Central East.

“Why I Love Horror”: Grady Hendrix and Becky Siegel Spratford in Conversation

“Why I Love Horror,” edited by the horror world’s favourite librarian, Becky Siegel Spratford, is a heartfelt tribute to the style that includes private essays from bestselling authors like Clay McLeod Chapman, Rachel Harrison and Grady Hendrix. Join Spratford and Hendrix as they focus on what attracts them to horror, what the style affords readers and Hendrix’s personal gripping essay at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Relics Event Center, 2015 W.
