Montgomery’s Fried Pickle Festival Serves Up Salty Snacks and Southern Enjoyable

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) — A salty Southern snack took middle stage this weekend on the Fried Pickle Festival in Montgomery.

Hundreds of individuals crammed Garrett Coliseum on Saturday and Sunday to benefit from the savory treats and have fun all issues pickle. Visitors sampled pickle-flavored lemonade, watermelon, and even cotton sweet. The competition additionally featured distributors promoting pickle-themed merchandise and do-it-yourself pickles, together with kid-friendly sights like inflatables, face portray, and a petting zoo with a child kangaroo.

Event organizer Shannon Wright mentioned she needed to deliver the pickle celebration to Alabama after seeing its reputation elsewhere.

“So many people have a need and a love of pickles,” Wright mentioned. “We thought, let’s take this pickle festival to Montgomery and see if they’re just as crazy about pickles as we are in Tennessee. And it turns out, Alabama is crazy about pickles.”

Among the attendees have been Savanna Cutchin and William Parker, a pair who describe themselves as pickle fanatics.

“I just kind of love pickles,” Cutchin mentioned. “He saw it online and surprised me with VIP tickets. I’ve got my pickle outfit — earrings, shorts, shirt, even a hair clip.”

“I randomly found the pickle fest on Facebook two months ago and immediately bought tickets,” Parker added. “We just needed something fun to do this weekend, so we came to the pickle fest.”
