Calvin Males’s Swimming Wins Calvin Quad Meet

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Seventeenth-ranked Calvin University males’s swimming and diving staff completed off a powerful weekend at Venema Aquatic Center with a first-place end within the Calvin Quad Meet on Saturday.
 
After two periods on Saturday to finish the meet, Calvin completed with 1,630 whole factors. Ohio Northern University (719 factors) took second, adopted by Carthage College (548) and Albion College (265).
 
The 200 Medley Relay led off the morning session, with he ‘A’ Calvin relay of Jackson Merkel (Grandville, Mich./Grandville), Caleb Gemmen (Mentor, Ohio/Homeschool), David Gabrielle (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) and Charles Platt (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) taking first place in a time of 1:30.13 that ranks third in NCAA III this season. The ‘B’ relay of Logan McKinney (Jackson, Mich./Jackson), Cardin Nguyen (Colorado Springs, Colo./Cheyenne Mountain), Andrew Taulbee (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Reynoldsburg), Zachary Logan (Byron Center, Mich./Byron Center) took second place in 1:34.17.
 
Ryan Halberg (Novi, Mich./Northville) helped Calvin get off to a powerful begin in particular person occasions with a first-place end within the 400 IM in a time of 4:09.99. Gemme led the 100 Breaststroke with a first-place time of 57.54, simply edging out Nguyen who completed second in 57.60. Alex Ketrow (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington) took fourth, adopted by Josh Krampe (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern) in fifth.
 
The 100 Backstroke featured the 2 swimmers with the highest two occasions in NCAA III this season, with Platt (49.24) edging out Merkel (49.35) for first place and setting an NCAA ‘B’ reduce qualifying time. Gabrille and McKinney adopted in third and fifth, respectively.

The last occasion of the day was the 200 Butterfly, the place Ziegler received in a time of 1:56.12. Chakery (1:58.22) and Wichart (1:59.22) rounded out the highest three.
