Westmorland and Furness Council is proudly displaying the symbolic purple poppy to commemorate Remembrance Sunday (9 November) and Armistice Day (11 November).
Featured prominently on many council buildings, libraries, care houses and autos, the poppy serves as an emblem of each remembrance and help for the Armed Forces group.
As a part of the council’s tribute, the Union Flag shall be flown at full mast from the city corridor buildings in Barrow, Kendal and Penrith on each days. Kendal Town Hall’s clock tower shall be lit purple, and in partnership with Kendal Town Council, the constructing will even be illuminated with poppies. Barrow Town Hall will shine within the colors of the Union Jack in tribute to those that have misplaced their lives in occasions of battle.
