Bears Perfect On Day 1 At ITA Sectionals, Masters

SEATTLE, Wash. – The California girls’s tennis staff’s Tiziana-Marie Schomburg, Greta Greco Lucchina and Berta Passola Folch swept their opening singles matches on the ITA West Sectional Championships on Thursday on the Nordstrom Tennis Center to succeed in Friday’s spherical of 16.
 
In the spherical of 32, Schomburg, a junior, and One hundred and twenty fifth-ranked Greco Lucchina, a sophomore, gained in straight units, with Schomburg defeating BYU’s Gracie Levelston 6-2, 6-1 and Greco Lucchina prevailing over Washington’s Weissheim 6-2, 6-2. Passola Folch, a senior seeded fifth and ranked 113th, bested Arizona’s 122nd-ranked Martyna Ostrzygalo 6-2, 6-7(3), 7-5.
 
On Friday, Schomburg performs Stanford’s 58th-ranked Caroline Driscoll, Greco Lucchina faces UCLA’s sixth-seeded and Twenty fifth-ranked Kate Fakih, and Passola Folch takes on Washington State’s Eva Alvarez Sande at occasions to be introduced.
 
Six gamers from ITA West Sectionals – 4 semifinalists and two quarterfinal playoff winners – qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship in November.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Mao Mushika acquired by two rounds of singles motion on the ITA Conference Masters Championships on the Barnes Tennis Center on Thursday, with the Cal junior incomes a first-round bye then profitable in straight units within the spherical of 16.
 
Second-seeded and Seventeenth-ranked Mushika defeated Jackson State’s Paula Corbalan 7-5, 6-3 to advance to Friday’s quarterfinals, by which she’s going to face Pepperdine’s fifth-seeded and 97th-ranked Alexia Harmon at 9 a.m. PT.
 
A doubles All-American final season, Mushika has already certified for the 2025 NCAA Doubles Championship and seeks a berth within the NCAA Singles Championship. The 4 semifinalists on the ITA Conference Masters Championships qualify for NCAA singles.
