BALTIMORE, Md. — The University of Richmond girls’s swimming and diving staff picked up 4 first place finishes and a number of other top-four finishes in Friday’s twin meet at Loyola. Despite the wins, the Spiders fell to the Greyhounds 167 to 133.
The Spiders opened with a runner-up end within the 200-yard medley relay as Caroline Weldon, Gabbie Primiano, Lena Amare and Presley Baber completed at 1:45.50. Richmond closed the meet with one other second-place relay within the 400 freestyle as Baber, Julia Krichev, Lydia Sturgeon and Caitlyn Hughes completed at 3:33.99.
Kaitlyn Bauer led Richmond with wins within the 1000 free (10:24.22) and 500 free (5:05.84). Erin Budde added a victory within the 200 free (1:54.80) and a runner-up end within the 500 free (5:08.43).
Highlighting the 100 fly (56.57) and the 100 free (51.83) was Lena Amare with a primary place finishes. Primiano positioned second in each the 50 breast (29.94) and 100 breast (1:04.53).
Other high Spider performances included Hughes, third within the 200 free (1:57.32) and third within the 100 free (54.14); Natalie Stuart, second within the 1000 free (10:27.57); and Julia Krichev, third within the 50 free (24.53).
